By default
Ubuntu does not support to open files ending in rar from rarlab (winrar), then from it to open winrar files will require manual installation to open the zip file.
A simple way to
install winrar in ubuntu is to download an additional application with the command apt-get of ubuntu, the way is as follows:
- open a console terminal on your Ubuntu after previous login into the ubuntu OS.
- then type or paste the following command: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install rar unrar
- once finished type or paste the following command: sudo apt-get clean
- upgrade your OS with the command: sudo apt-get upgrade
congratulations, now winrar files can be open on your Ubuntu operating system.
